Praying Mantis on Flower by Christina Rollo. From a distance I watched this Praying Mantis (Mantodea), fly into our yard. Thinking it was a katydid I didn't pay much attention, until an American Robin went after it. The robin picked it up and quickly dropped it. The two of them proceeded to fight. The fight caught my attention so I went to investigate. There was the praying mantis in a defensive position. I thought I even heard it hiss. Must have been my imagination? However, I remain impressed with this ferocious bug!
