Description
I recently posted several photos of the Huron Lightship in Port Huron Michigan, but this is an older image I found in a previous visit to the ship that I never edited and posted so this is my day 178 contribution to a 365 day new image challenge.
The Huron Lightship museum is a retired lightship operating on the Great Lakes. She was the last lightship to be retired in 1970 and now sits on the bank at Pine Grove Park in Port Huron just south of the Blue Water Bridge linking Port Huron Michigan with Sarnia Canada. For 36 years, the Huron was stationed six miles north of the Blue Water Bridge to guide ships around a large sandbar. Lightships were used before GPS and where lighthouses were not practical, although Fort Gratiot lighthouse is not too far north of the bridge.
