Description
Fringed Polygala Flowers by Christina Rollo. Delicate purple Fringed Polygala (Polygala paucifolia) thrive in dry to moist conifer forests. This flower only blooms for a short time in spring to early summer, in the eastern half of Canada and northeastern US. They grow from creeping, partly underground stems, usually no taller than 6 inches. The upper leaves are oval and crowded, resembling wintergreen.
